An interesting tour with a deep dive into the political and social history of Mexico City, exploring Zocolo and the Merced market, and some hidden parts of the city we never would have done otherwise. Our learned guide discussed some of the political influences (old and new), social dynamics, struggles of a growing metropolis, environmental issues and immigration — a tour that makes one think critically and challenges you to go beyond the surface of the ‘vacation’ lens. Highly recommended.

HIGHLY recommend this tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Mexico City. Gustavo has put together such a thoughtful, insightful tour that gives you a real sense of the social and political history and present day of CDMX. Super unique perspective and great way to understand the city. It was a wonderful context to have as we went to see other sights around the city. It went by so fast, I could have sat in a lecture all day. Just book it!

This tour was truly a highlight of our time in Mexico City. Gustavo cares deeply about sharing the city’s story and brings it to life with incredible visual aids and thoughtful context. He’s funny, kind, and so knowledgeable, making the day genuinely enjoyable. We visited neighborhoods we never would have found on our own and left with a much richer understanding of the city, how it was built, who lives here, art, politics, daily life, all of it. Gustavo made every topic feel relevant and real, never glossing over the tough parts or giving a touristy script. Gustavo also gave thoughtful recommendations for further reading, which I really appreciated. This is one of those rare experiences that changes the way you see a city and makes you want to find more tours like this wherever you travel.
