About this tour

Mexican politics is like spicy salsa – it has a lot of different flavors and ingredients that mix together in interesting ways. From revolutionaries like Pancho Villa to beloved presidents like Benito Juarez, Mexican political figures are known for their larger-than-life personalities and dramatic speeches. Of course, like any good telenovela, Mexican politics also has its fair share of scandals and controversies. From corruption scandals to drug cartel wars, there’s always something interesting going on in the world of Mexican politics. This interactive storytelling walk is meant to have the flow and information-heavy experience of a documentary. It takes us into a comprehensive analysis, providing surprising answers. It highlights Mexico’s social and political elements, from the creation of the Mexican state to modern times. We’ll address both historical and current events from a balanced & non-biased point of view to help you determine your opinions of this land for yourself. The experience is aimed at people with a genuine interest in politics and those keen to learn more about the situation in Mexico by conducting some first-hand research. Please feel free to contact me for a date and hour that works best for you.

Gustavo did a tremendous job as our tour guide, providing us great insights and context regarding Mexico's historical, political, economic and sociological evolution. He masterfully tied together the many strands into a compelling narrative. I highly recommend this tour.

Great tour

My friend and I recommend this tour to everyone who comes to Mexico City and wants to learn more about its social and economic world. Prior to the tour, there was so much that we did not know about the city and its history, and it’s hard to know what you don’t know, which is exactly why a tour like this was so great! In January 2026, my friend and I took this tour with Gustavo who met us promptly at the scheduled time in the Centro and he even had bottles of water for us. We visited so many places in the Centro and surrounding areas that are not as well known. A Metro trip was included too. Gustavo was an incredible tour guide. He shared a ton about the current economic, social, and environmental issues that Mexico City and its surrounding area are facing and gave us a great historical background for context. Even the small observations that he would offer, like about the different cars on the metro, were very interesting. He answered our many questions and we had plenty of breaks to sit down and use restrooms. He was so warm and did a great job of sharing multiple political perspectives. I would request him by name if you can, because we had the best time with him!

We like to go beyond the typical tourist experience when we travel and learn more about reality for the people who live there. Our guide, Gustavo, did that with discussions about political history, government repression in modern times, and current social issues. We got to see the Centro Historico from a different perspective. He was great about answering even the most random questions and gave us an excellent recommendation for lunch—and for an exhibit featuring a printmaker from the Taller de Grafico Popular which exactly suited our interests.
