About this tour

The Philippines is a remote and little-known country that has nevertheless had a significant historical connection with both Spain and somehow with many of Latin America’s Hispanic countries as well.

A country with crystal-clear waters, endless beaches, the very heart of what the word paradise means. In this country, we can find a lot of light, yes… but also a lot of shadows. We’re going to have a look at the great things, as well as the shadows of the country.

This interactive storytelling walk is meant to have the flow and information-heavy experience of a documentary. It takes us into a comprehensive analysis, providing surprising answers.

It highlights the social and political elements of the Philippines, from the creation of the Filipino state to modern times. We’ll address both historical and current events from a balanced & non-biased point of view to help you determine your views of this land for yourself.

The experience is aimed at people with a genuine interest in politics and those keen to learn more about the situation in the Philippines by conducting some first-hand research.

This experience is exactly like its name and what you are looking for. The host was amazing. He even take some extra time to explain all my questions.
Manila Social and Political Walk
Alex

I’m really glad I went on this tour. My guide was Alex, a guy from Serbia who was knowledgeable and passionate about a variety of different topics regarding Pinoy culture and politics as well as Manila’s local political economy. I appreciated he was self aware enough to acknowledge the optics and constraints of a non-Filipino acting as a guide to the local society. There was good rhythm and flow to the tour dialogue and Alex was comfortable leading discussion, taking questions and branching off on conversational tangents with me and the other person on the tour. I’ll note that the tour covered a fairly small area in Makati but I asked for an earlier timeslot which meant it was hotter than it would have been on the regularly scheduled version and the length of the tour wouldn’t accommodate for checking out other parts of Makati that weren’t so close to walk to like green belt mall etc- though we started in Rockwell Center, which was a bit off the main tourist area of Makati. I felt much more informed about the Philippines and Manila after my time with Alex and would also say he was a generally easygoing and engaging person who was happy to continue chatting for as long as I had time, so things felt more friendly than transactional.
