This is our second planet wonk tour. After a mind blowing tour in Athens, Greece, we jumped on the chance to have the opportunity to learn about Mexico City and all its complexities. I was not disappointed. As always, the host expertly weaved the relevant history of Mexico city, including its pre-Hispanic history, with contemporary social and political issues and how Mexicans of CDMX see themselves within this context. Gustavo was phenomenal in his knowledge and ability to provide an objective analysis of the sociopolitical climate in CDMX while also bringing in his personal experience as a native of the city. We were brought to places we would never have been on our own, and we felt priveleged to get a glimpse into the fascinating city and its people beyond the superficial tourist lens. It was, again, a highlight of our trip. If you, like us, travel to experience a culture, history and perspective different from your own, these tours are a must. Highly recommend!!!
This tour was super informative and unique. We loved learning about the history and politics of Mexico. Our host Gustavo was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English and could answer all our questions easily. He also took us to parts of the city that tourists would not usually visit but we still felt very safe.
