About this tour

Bolivia is one of the most politically and socially complex countries in Latin America. In recent decades, it has experienced profound transformations — from historic social movements and constitutional reforms to economic shifts, political crises, and ongoing debates about democracy, development, and identity. These changes continue to shape everyday life and influence how Bolivians see their future.

But understanding Bolivia isn’t always easy. Headlines often oversimplify the country, while traditional tours rarely go beyond surface-level explanations. This experience is designed to bridge that gap.

This Social and Political Walk is an interactive storytelling experience that combines the depth of a documentary with the energy of exploring the city on foot. Together, we’ll unpack Bolivia’s past and present, connecting key historical events with the political and economic realities shaping the country today.

Through a balanced and non-biased approach, we explore the creation of the Bolivian state, the rise of social movements, political turning points, and the economic challenges and opportunities facing Bolivia in the modern era. The goal is not to tell you what to think, but to provide context, perspectives, and insights so you can form your own understanding.

This experience is designed for curious travelers who want to go beyond sightseeing — people interested in politics, history, culture, and the deeper forces shaping Bolivia today. It’s also ideal for those who enjoy asking questions, engaging in discussion, and discovering a place through meaningful conversation.

Whether you’re just arriving in Bolivia or about to leave, this experience will give you the context and understanding that transforms how you see the country.

This walk is conducted in English by default. If you would prefer to join in Spanish, please inform us so we can confirm availability.

What an interesting experience this political and social tour of La Paz allows you to better understand the history of Bolivia and its current situation, which we generally ignore in Europe. I loved this country even more, which was able to push McDonald’s and other Kentucky fried chicken outside its borders. Kevin’s narration is captivating and peppered with anecdotes. We feel that he is involved and answers questions perfectly. I highly recommend this experience to travel smarter.

Kevin was fantastic, taking us through centuries of Bolivian history in an engaging and accessible way, and weaving his own family’s stories throughout. Despite the huge amount of information, we never felt overwhelmed and we thought he made it very easy to follow. We appreciated that he told both sides of controversial events in history and welcomed questions from us every step of the way. He’s a talented storyteller and well-informed guide, and was happy to provide recommendations around the city when the tour concluded. We really enjoyed the tour and recommend it highly. Thank you Kevin!
