About this tour

How did the ‘cradle of democracy’ become the ‘basket case of Europe’? The question may be crude and offensive, but it captures the essence of much thinking around the globe in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. This interactive storytelling walk is meant to have the flow and information-heavy experience of a documentary.

It takes us into a comprehensive analysis, providing surprising answers. It highlights the social and political elements of Greece, from the creation of the Greek state to modern times. We’ll address both historical and current events from a balanced & non-biased point of view to help you determine your views of this land for yourself.

The experience is aimed at people with a genuine interest in politics and those keen to learn more about the situation in Greece by conducting some first-hand research.

-The duration of this experience is between 2h30mins and 3h30mins depending on Q&A.

Unfortunately, our system only accepts bookings made at least 24 hours in advance of the experience date. If you have specifically booked a nighttime experience, starting later, like 8 pm, is definitely possible. However, if you have booked a different time slot and wish to have a later start time, please contact us and we will assist you accordingly.

It was one of the most interesting walks I’ve ever taken. Isaac understands modern Greece inside out and explains everything in such detail and with such clarity that even if you’re not into politics, you get pulled in. He’s a fantastic storyteller. This isn’t the usual tourist walk filled with dusty dates and ancient events. It’s about what’s happening now, grounded in facts and clear explanations. I expected the tour to focus solely on Greece, but it turned out to be a broader look at how modern European politics works, using Greece as a vivid example.

Isaac was a very enlightened host not just about Greece but also his 6 guests' home countries. Great tour and we learned a lot. Isaac’s tour was great, he has done a lot of research to be able to explain the history of modern Greece and its politics so clearly. The current political parties and their history were explained, which allow us to get an insight into why things are the way they are! Isaac’s tour gives you a deeper understanding of Greek culture and its love of a political rally and protests. Isaac conducts the tour in a very causal manner, allowing for questions along the way and also an extra question session at the end of the tour. I’d recommend the tour to anyone who wants to know how modern Greece got where it is now!
