Alex is a foreigner with an impressive understanding of both world and local history and politics. Throughout the tour, he showed genuine curiosity and deep appreciation for Manila’s culture and people. He’s very respectful, easy to talk to, and engages thoughtfully with everyone he meets. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I have done a number of walking tours before (including in CDMX), and this one so unique and thought provoking. Gustavo, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable about the topics we covered and could address every question we had. On a personal level, he also was gracious, engaging, highly personable, and just a great guy to spend 2.5 hours with. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking to understand Mexico on a deeper level, beyond just the typical tourist highlights.

This was a very unique tour and experience. Our guide, Gustavo, was a wonderful guide. He was communicative regarding plans, reached out to confirm beforehand, and met us on time at the determined location with prepared materials and ready to go. He was friendly, knowledgeable, charming, and had an obvious passion for the city of Mexico. We were worried this tour might “sanitize” the history to appear more palatable to tourists, but the information presented kept it real and encouraged independent thought on important social issues. We were in Mexico City for 8 days and this was easily one of our favorite experiences for the whole trip. The tour was much more thorough then we expected and included a glimpse into everyday life and culture that tourists wouldn’t normally wander into on their own. This was such a cool experience that we plan to look for similar tours everywhere we go now, we didn’t even know this was a thing.
Edson walked us through key moments in Bolivian history and helped us understand the country’s political and cultural context in a way that was easy to follow and enriching. It gave La Paz more depth than just sightseeing. Thank you!
