I had such a great experience with this tour and was delighted to have a glimpse of the contemporary greek lives and the international/domestic political circumstances of the country. Go to the Acropolis and wander around Plaka on day one for your ancient history fix. But save day two (or three) for this tour if you want to learn about the dynamic living history of Athens happening right before your eyes (and under your feet). I had read a lot about modern Athens before my trip and it was powerful to see my book learning reflected accurately in the streets. It was very illuminating and thought provoking. Isaac is knowledgeable and entertaining (in short, “a good guy”). If you’re used to the complexities and grittiness of urban centers make sure to ask for the “extra spicy” option.
