I recently had the pleasure of joining Isaac's Athens Social and Political Walk during my trip to this vibrant city, and I cannot recommend it enough! This unique experience provided me with a deeper understanding of the country's political culture, shedding light on the fascinating reasons behind certain aspects of Greek society that I had never known before. Isaac, was a knowledgeable and passionate guide, and led us through the streets of Athens What I appreciated most about the tour was its focus on context. Isaac skillfully connected the dots between past events and the current socio-political landscape, painting a comprehensive picture of Greece's rich history. From the birth of democracy to modern-day political challenges, Isaac's in-depth knowledge and ability to explain the complexities of Greek politics were truly impressive. Moreover, the tour allowed us to explore Athens beyond the typical tourist sites. We delved into the heart of the city, visiting significant landmarks, hidden gems, and local gathering spots. The tour itself was well-structured and paced perfectly. By the end of the walk, I felt a better sense of connection to Athens and a deeper appreciation for the country's political journey. If you're looking to gain a fresh perspective on Athens and Greece, I wholeheartedly recommend Isaac's tour.

Go to the Acropolis and wander around Plaka on day one for your ancient history fix. But save day two (or three) for this tour if you want to learn about the dynamic living history of Athens happening right before your eyes (and under your feet). I had read a lot about modern Athens before my trip and it was powerful to see my book learning reflected accurately in the streets. It was very illuminating and thought provoking. Isaac is knowledgeable and entertaining (in short, “a good guy”). If you’re used to the complexities and grittiness of urban centers make sure to ask for the “extra spicy” option.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see something in Athens besides the tourist sites. It is not only interesting but also important. Yitzhak is an excellent guide, knowledgeable about the topics he guides about and funny.
